Articulation Assessments

Articulation Assessments provide an overview of your child's speech sound production and can determine if speech therapy is appropriate. This assessment will identify any speech sound errors that your child is making and identify which sound errors are no longer age-appropriate.

Why should my child participate in an articulation assessment?

If you have concerns about your child's ability to make certain speech sounds, have difficulty understanding them or they are exhibiting frustration around speech, an articulation assessment may be appropriate. An articulation assessment will determine if your child is making age-appropriate errors or if they would benefit from speech therapy.

What will occur during an articulation assessment?

  • Case History

  • Oral Mechanism Exam (looks at structure & function of speech mechanism)

  • Speech Sound Assessment (consisting of single word testing and connected speech sampling)

  • Parents will receive an assessment report following testing session outlining results and recommendations.
